The hospital's policies and procedures regarding the use of restraint or seclusion include the following: - Definitions for restraint and seclusion that are consistent with state and federal law and regulation - Physician and other licensed practitioner training requirements - Staff training requirements - Who has authority to order restraint or seclusion - Who has authority to discontinue the use of restraint or seclusion - Who can initiate the use of restraint or seclusion - Circumstances under which restraint or seclusion is discontinued - Requirement that restraint or seclusion is discontinued as soon as is safely possible - Who can assess and monitor patients in restraint or seclusion - Time frames for assessing and monitoring patients in restraint or seclusion
